About Ian

Ian provides one-to-one support and group classes focusing on helping employees understand how to use their current health insurance plan. Topics often include terminology such as co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket maximums, and how they apply when using a health insurance plan; the different types of tax-efficient ways to pay for medical care (HSAs, FSAs, HRAs); and the differences between in-network and out-of-network providers, including costs and other factors to maximize coverage.

Other key topics covered may be understanding how to obtain insurance for an employee and his/her family (health exchange, Medicaid, etc.), clarifying the ins and outs of Medicare, including the many timelines that must be adhered to, digging deeper into claims and billing issues, and providing guidance and coaching around how to talk to providers and insurance companies to get the information you need in the most efficient/effective ways.

In a group setting, Ian can provide 30 – 60 minute classes to educate workers and their family members about many of these topics in a casual, conversational environment.

Ian has more than 15 years' experience in the health insurance industry, with more than 10 years working with various group benefits, insurance, and investments. Ian also has a Colorado State Life/Accident/Health Insurance Producer's License.
